Perhaps one of the most dangerous false teachings in our day is the program Oprah is doing with "New Age" author, Marianne Williamson. In an environment of warm-sounding words conveying enticing promises, Oprah's "The Shift" is suggesting to unsuspecting minds that society can improve itself and save the world NOT through the only Savior God has given mankind, but rather by finding "the Christ within."
"The Shift" teaches moving from one position to an entirely different one. It counsels one to shift one's awareness away from one's self and one's ego, to the collective "Christ consciousness," or that "Christ within."
Thus, "The Shift" is enticing its followers to shift their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and LORD, to a New Age heresy of finding divinity within one's self.
In the Olivet discourse, Jesus's speaks of the last days:
"For false christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand."
