Reiki

Reiki started in eastern mysticism
The name Reiki comes from two Japanese characters that describe the energy itself. Rei means 'spirit' and ki, means 'life force energy.'

It is defined as a specific kind of “universal healing energy” that was rediscovered by a Japanese doctor, Mikao Usui, founder of the Usui System of Reiki, in the 19th century. Dr. Usui was indoctrinated from early childhood into eastern mysticism, having entered a Tendai Buddhist school at the age of four.

Later he went on to study in Japan, China and Europe. He was also a member of the Rei Jyutu Ka, a metaphysical group dedicated to developing psychic abilities.

As a spiritualist, Usui spent much time meditating on Mt. Kurama where he had received his early Buddhist training. He enrolled in Isyu Guo, a training course sponsored by the Tendai Buddhist Temple. It was during this training that the “Reiki energy” entered his “crown chakra” (energy center at the top of the head).

Usui trained several disciples including, doctor Chujiro Hayashi. Hayashi initiated and trained Mrs. Hawayo Takata, who brought Reiki to the United States. Mrs. Takata claimed that she had been appointed Grandmaster of Reiki through the lineage of Mr. Chujiro Hayashi.

The countries of the far east are steeped in mysticism and the worship of plural gods, from which most “New Age” practices have emanated. Their teachings are in direct contradiction to the teachings of the Judeo-Christian Bible. The Judeo-Christian Bible forbids all forms of spiritualist contact with the dead, or with the many spirits invoked in mysticism and “channeling.”

"When you come into the land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations.

There shall not be found among you anyone who passes his son or his daughter through fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or an observer of times, or a fortune teller, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or one consulting spirits, or a wizard, or one who calls up the dead.

For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you."
Deuteronomy 18:9-12

What they claim:
Similar to other “New Age” practices such as acupuncture and yoga, Reiki teaches that unseen “energy” paths exist throughout the body that need only be charged with positive energy to restore each network of pathways and to restore health to the body.

Reiki is a form of Tantric magic studied by Dr. Mikao Usui during his Buddhist retreat and fast, during which he studied Buddhist Tantric texts. Tantra has its origin in tantric yoga, in which sexual “energy” is manipulated in an effort to attain “union” with God or with the “Supreme Self,” the "divinity" within.

The lie: "You shall be as gods..."
Genesis 3:5

Reiki practitioners claim that they act as “channels” for Reiki energy, which supposedly flows from the universe through their bodies to specific parts of the body in order to facilitate healing. It is claimed that no-one has the ability to practice Reiki if they have not been initiated by a Reiki Master.

"Beware lest anyone seduce you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the elements of the world, and not according to Christ."
Colossians 2:8

Channeling
In some traditions, Reiki energy is believed to enter the initiate through the crown chakra (energy source at the top of the head,) fill the initiate's aura and flow through her or his hands into the body of the recipient. In other traditions, it is said to enter through the root chakra, fill the aura, become centered in the heart chakra, and flow out through the initiate's hands. The Reiki energy is said to be "intelligent" energy which "knows what to do," or "where it is needed." Some teach that Reiki spirit guides keep watch over Reiki energy and assist the practitioner.

“Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body where the negative thoughts and feelings are attached. This causes the negative energy to break apart and fall away. In so doing, Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.”

The recipient is asked to lie down and relax. The practitioner then acts as a channel for Reiki energy.

"Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God."
Leviticus 19:31

Reiki Attunement
Reiki is purported to be a life force that can only be channeled by someone that has been attuned to it. Reiki is transferred to the student by the Reiki Master during an attunement process which opens the crown, heart, and palm chakras (centers) and creates a special link between the student and the Reiki source. The attunement energies are channeled into the student through the Reiki Master. The Reiki attunement is a powerful spiritual experience. The process is guided by the Reiki or god-consciousness, and makes adjustments in the process depending on the needs of each student. The attunement is also attended by Reiki guides and spirit beings who help implement the process. Many report having mystical experiences involving personal messages, healings, visions, and past life experiences. Students often report experiences involving opening of the third eye, increased intuitive awareness, and other psychic abilities.

"And the soul that turns after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul...”
Leviticus 20:6

Used with other “New Age” practices
Like most “New Age” healing techniques, practitioners vary their practice and combine it with other practices such as the use of crystals, magic incantations, group energy channeling, and spiritualism that includes the taking over of the body by one’s “guide.”

Quote from a Reiki practitioner“Reiki can by used to develop and strengthen your connection to spiritual beings .... I suggest when using this technique, you focus on only connecting with enlightened beings or with God ...By enlightened beings, I am referring to those who are one with God, free of all ego and filled with compassion and wisdom. These include Jesus Christ, Mother Mary, the Holy Spirit, the Archangels, Quan Yin, Krishna, Buddha, and others.”

"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'”
John 14:6

Satan’s purpose from the very beginning is to oppose the Lord Jesus Christ and suggest that what He said is not true. Jesus said the way is narrow, through him alone. Satan says it’s wide, through any other “enlightened” ones.

According to Jesus, you can NOT go through angels, Krishna, Buddha, Mother Mary, or ANY other “enlightened” ones.

This is making Jesus a liar. It’s heresy.

Some Definitions

Chakra
A Sanskrit word meaning “wheel.” A chakra is supposedly any of the seven “body centers” that are considered sources of energy for psychic or spiritual power. The crown chakra is supposedly the seventh center, located at the top of the head, which radiates out to the universe.

Channeling
Channeling is receiving communications from spirits.

"There shall not be found among you ...a consulter with familiar spirits ... For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord.”
Deuteronomy 18:10-12

Karma
From "Kama," Sanscrit for “action” or "deed" in Indic religions. It is understood as that which causes the entire cycle of cause and effect. The theory of Karma is a fundamental doctrine in Buddhism. It was prevalent in India before the advent of the Buddha, but it was the Buddha who explained and formulated this doctrine in its complete form. Karma states that the effects of all deeds create past, present, and future experiences, thus making one responsible for one's own life, and the pain and joy it brings to him/her and others. Karma extends through one's present life and all of one's past and future lives as well.

"It is appointed to men ONCE to die, and after this the judgment."
Hebrews 9:27

Medium
A medium is someone who serves as an intermediary between the living and the dead. One who contacts spirits.

"And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people."
Leviticus 20:6

Spirit Guide
Spirit guides are persons who have supposedly lived many former lifetimes, paid their karmic debts, and advanced beyond a need to reincarnate. Each is assigned to watch over an incarnate person, not only on this Earth, but on many other planets throughout the universe.

"A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them."
Leviticus 20:27

Spiritualism
Spiritualism is the belief that the dead survive as spirits which can communicate with the living, especially with the help of a third party, called a medium. It’s the practice of communicating with discarnate beings who once lived an earthly life.

“Spiritualism is the masquerade of demonic forces, who pretend to be departed spirits with the intent of deceiving through the power of Satan those foolish enough to believe the testimony of demons in preference to the authority of the Word of God Himself."
Walter Martin, Kingdom of the Cults, Bethany House Publishers, Minneapolis, MI, 1996, p. 228
